Welcome to the 2017 Annual Report.
True to our mission, the National Pork Board worked closely with the pork industry in 2017 to serve as a catalyst to unite producers and to connect them with opportunities to simultaneously build consumer trust and drive sustainable production to grow consumer demand.
In 2017, we successfully:
- Updated our go-to-market strategy, shifting from a consumer advertising model to building strategic business-to-business partnerships throughout the entire supply chain.
- Redesigned our digital strategy, creating a single web presence that will be expanded in the year ahead.
- Built on the story to improve fresh pork sales by promoting a 145-degree end-point cooking temperature, updated pork cut names and the quality attributes of color/marbling. All are key to driving consistency in the product we deliver to consumers and channel partners.
- Took a giant step forward together in the development and implementation of the Secure Pork Supply.
Administering our industry’s programs through your Checkoff dollars is how we deliver value to you. In the 2017 Return on Investment analysis of the Pork Checkoff, $25 of producer value was returned for every $1 invested. This net return demonstrates that we are meeting your needs in areas that drive sustainable production and grow consumer demand.
