Delegates Elect Board Members

Pork Act Delegates at March’s 2006 National Pork Industry Forum in Kansas City, Mo., elected candidates for the National Pork Checkoff Board and members to serve on the Pork Checkoff Nominating Committee.

In voting on National Pork Board members, nine pork producers were ranked for consideration by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns.  He will appoint five to serve three-year terms and one to finish the remaining two-year term of Deborah Johnson, who resigned to become the North Carolina sTaste executive.  The secretary’s appointments typically are announced in the summer.

The nominees, as ranked by the delegates, are: Dianne Bettin, Minnesota; Dennis Michael, South Dakota; Jeff Galle, Illinois; Gene Nemechek, North Carolina; Randy Brown, Ohio; Alan Wilhoite, Indiana; Dale Springer, Kansas; Curtis Meier, Iowa; and David Reinecker, Pennsylvania

Pork Act Delegates also elected Brad Greenway, South Dakota, and Brent Sandidge, Missouri, to two-year terms on the Pork Board Nominating Committee.
