Delegates Elect Board Members
Pork Act Delegates at March’s 2006 National Pork
Industry Forum in Kansas City, Mo., elected
candidates for the National Pork Checkoff Board and
members to serve on the Pork Checkoff Nominating
Committee.
In
voting on National Pork Board members, nine pork
producers were ranked for consideration by U.S.
Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns. He will
appoint five to serve three-year terms and one to
finish the remaining two-year term of Deborah
Johnson, who resigned to become the North Carolina
sTaste executive. The secretary’s appointments
typically are announced in the summer.
The
nominees, as ranked by the delegates, are: Dianne
Bettin, Minnesota; Dennis Michael, South Dakota;
Jeff Galle, Illinois; Gene Nemechek, North Carolina;
Randy Brown, Ohio; Alan Wilhoite, Indiana; Dale
Springer, Kansas; Curtis Meier, Iowa; and David
Reinecker, Pennsylvania
Pork Act Delegates also elected Brad Greenway, South
Dakota, and Brent Sandidge, Missouri, to two-year
terms on the Pork Board Nominating Committee. |
