Director of Packer/Processor Industry Relations

The National Pork Board seeks a dynamic person to become the Director of Packer/Processor Industry Relations. This professional will be responsible for developing and maintaining organizational relationships with all segments of the pork packing and processing community in order to ensure NPB’s product marketing, issues management, education, and research initiatives are aligned with packer and processor priorities. This person will be a key contributor in NPB’s overall marketing strategy and will report to the Vice President of Domestic Marketing.

Applicants should have at least 10 years professional experience in meat industry operations, sales and/or marketing. Emphasis on experience with influencing change, promoting new ideas, and establishing and improving relationships. Position requires knowledge in hog procurement, pork processing, research and development, product innovation, cold chain management, foodservice and retail grocery operations.

A Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in a related discipline such as Animal Science, Meat Science, Marketing, or Communications. Agriculture and/or trade association experience is strongly preferred.

This position requires extensive (up to 50%) domestic travel by air and auto. Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record. The National Pork Board office is located in Des Moines, IA but may consider a remote office location based on candidate circumstance.

The National Pork Board has responsibility for Checkoff-funded research, promotion and consumer information projects and for communicating with pork producers and the public. The Pork Checkoff funds national and state programs in advertising, consumer information, retail and foodservice marketing, export market promotion, production improvement, technology, swine health, pork safety and environmental management.
