Toxoplasma

Improperly prepared pork from affected swine is considered one of the potential sources of human Toxoplasma infection. Therefore, producers need to be aware of on-farm control measures. Toxoplasma gondii can spread to pigs from cats. Pigs contract the parasites by consuming the oocysts from the manure of infected cats. Limiting feline access to pigs helps producers control this threat on the farm.
