National Pork Board Members
The National Pork Board is a group of 15 pork producers or importers, nominated by Pork Act Delegates at the National Pork Forum and appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. The board collects the National Pork Checkoff funds and utilizes those dollars to implement programs of promotion, research and consumer information designed to enhance the marketing of U.S. pork and pork products.
Everett Forkner - President Forkner, of Richards, Mo., is the owner and president of Forkner Farms Inc. and Truline Genetics LLC, which has 550 purebred sows and markets its Swine Genetics both domestically and internationally. His is a family farming operation, involving two sons, that also raises corn, soybeans and wheat on 2,000 acres.
At the national level, he is serving his second three-year term on the National Pork Board and chairs the Executive Committee. He has served as chair of the Animal Science and the Resolutions/Advisements committees. He also has served on the Administrative Committee, Audit Committee and Nutritional Efficiency Consortium. At the state level he is a member of the Missouri Pork Association and serves on the board of directors. Locally, Forkner is past president of the Vernon County Pork Producers.
Forkner is active in other farm groups, including the board of directors for the United Duroc Association, where he served as president of the board for two terms, and the board of directors for the American Landrace Association, where he served as president for three years. He is also a member of Vernon County Farm Bureau and Vernon County Cattlemen’s Association.
Conley Nelson - Vice President
 Nelson, of Algona, Iowa, is the general manager of the Murphy-Brown LLC Midwest operations, which has 117,000 sows and markets 3.5 million hogs annually. He also owns a 4,400-head wean-to-finish operation. He is serving his second three-year term on the National Pork Board and chairs the Administrative Committee. Nelson is a graduate of the Pork Checkoff’s Leadership Academy. He serves on the Domestic Marketing and Trade committees. He also has served on the Animal Welfare, Budget and Audit committees. At the state level, he serves on the Iowa Pork Producers Association Board of Directors, the Executive, Membership and Leadership, Promotion, Swine Health and Animal Well-being committees. He is a member of the Kossuth County Pork Producers and the Humboldt County Farm Bureau.
Karen Richter - Treasurer
 Richter of Montgomery, Minn., raises 3,000 head of feeder-to-finish replacement gilts per year and markets 500 head of wean-to-finish hogs annually. She is serving her second three-year term on the National Pork Board and chairs the Finance Committee. Richter serves on the Animal Welfare and the Pork Safety, Quality and Human Nutrition committees and is an Operation Main Street presenter. She was previously chaired the Administrative Committee, the Nominating Committee and the Producer and State Relations Task Force, and served as a member of the Pork Checkoff Trade and Producer Services committees. Richter is a past president of the Minnesota Pork Board and has served on numerous committees. Locally, she is active in the Le Sueur County Pork Producers, serving on the board of directors.
